Klondike Gold Corp. Reevaluates Historic High-Grade Silver Sample From the Eng Property
Top Mining News : Klondike Gold Corp. is reevaluating a high-grade, drill-intersected silver-rich sample from the Eng property in southeastern B.C. The property was staked five years by the Company as part of a larger land package situated due west of the Cold Creek and Mount Mahon areas, approximately 1.5 km south of Yahk in southeastern British Columbia.
Two holes were drilled in the immediate area in 1990 by Kokanee Explorations Ltd. in a search for SEDEX (Sedimentary-Exhalative) mineralization. One of the holes intersected the silver-copper-gold mineralization at a depth of several hundred meters.
The silver occurrence is described in BC Government Minfile (taken from assessment report 20828): “Mineralization consisting of native silver and native copper and gold occurs within a 15 cm zone of fragmental quartzititic argillite and siliceous mud beds. The mineralization is described to be contained within bedded seams less than 0.5 mm thick within a purple brown siliceous fragment. The 15-cm zone is described as sub-rounded fragments and mud; the fragments are heavily crowded with fine pyrite and pyrrhotite. A sample of a mineralized fragment yielded 34,183 g/tonne silver (997.17 oz/tonne), 10.3 percent copper and 0.27 g/tonne gold.”
Proposed exploration plans include prospecting to locate potential mineralization at surface, a geochemical grid, and a ground geophysical survey.
Klondike Gold Corp. also announces that Diana Mark has been appointed Assistant Corporate Secretary. It also notes a correction to its news release of February 5, 2009 to state that 3,000,000 stock options were issued to directors and officers of the Company and 3,180,000 stock options to employees and consultants at a price of $0.10 per share for a period of five years.

The complete news is as follows:
Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. announces that the Pebble Fund for Sustainable Bristol Bay Fisheries and Communities, established by the Pebble Limited Partnership last year, will dispense its first $1 million in grants to 33 successful applicants this spring.
The Pebble Fund was established in February 2008 as a five-year, $5 million commitment to support community-led initiatives that enhance the health of Bristol Bay fisheries and contribute to a sustainable economic future in southwest Alaska. Administered by the non-profit Alaska Community Foundation, Pebble Fund grant criteria and awards were determined by an independent advisory board of citizens representing communities from throughout the Bristol Bay region.
“Pebble is a globally significant copper-gold-molybdenum deposit whose development has the potential to provide employment and business opportunities for generations of Alaskans, as well as other social and economic benefits for the communities of Bristol Bay,” said Northern Dynasty President & CEO Ron Thiessen. “Although the project is still several years away from permitting and operations, the Pebble Partnership is committed to ensuring that local communities benefit at every stage of project development.
“That’s what the Pebble Fund and today’s announcement is all about; ensuring that Pebble provides a more sustainable future for the communities of southwest Alaska now and in the future.”
Based in Anchorage AK, the Pebble Partnership was established in July 2007 as a 50:50 partnership between a wholly-owned affiliate of Northern Dynasty and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anglo American plc. To retain its 50% interest, Anglo American is required to continue its staged investment of $1.425 billion to advance the Pebble Project toward permitting and operations.
“One of our core principles is to help build sustainable communities and that is why we started the Pebble Fund,” said Pebble Partnership CEO John Shively. “I am pleased and encouraged that the Pebble Fund board was able to meet a diverse cross section of community needs in the Bristol Bay region. This clearly demonstrates we will meet our commitments, and we are looking forward to the next round of applications and grants later this year.”
In total, some 50 non-profit community organizations in southwest Alaska applied for Pebble Fund grants in 2009 for projects related to community development, education, energy and fisheries. The Pebble Fund board selected 33 successful applicants, including 26 small grant ((less than)$25,000) and seven large grant ((greater than)$25,000) recipients.
Projects receiving small grant awards include a community greenhouse development in Ugashik, alternative energy and wind development projects in the City of Chignik and Chignik Lagoon, and a vocational training program for clean diesel technology in the Bristol Bay School District. Large grant awards will fund fisheries enhancement and education projects in Pilot Point and Ivanoff Bay, a renewable energy development project in Iguigig and a broad-based job internship program for students in the Lake and Peninsula School District, among others.
“Villages in rural Alaska are facing some serious challenges, including high energy and transportation costs, limited investment and job opportunities, and out-migration,” said Ron Thiessen. “We believe the Pebble Fund can start to address those challenges by funding projects that are developed, delivered and selected by the people who know this region best - the communities of Bristol Bay.”

The Nico project was identified and staked by Mirasol geologists through the Company’s proprietary generative exploration program which has identified many new epithermal gold and silver systems in the Deseado Massif. The Nico mineral property comprises an area of 198 square kilometres and straddles a provincial road 40 kilometres north of Coeur’s producing bonanza-grade Martha silver mine. During exploration campaigns from 2005 to 2008, Mirasol conducted an integrated exploration program of geological mapping, 120 line kilometres of gradient array IP/resistivity geophysics, 552 line kilometres of high-resolution ground magnetics and 134 rock chip samples, which outlined highly prospective targets.
Initial exploration returned up to 8.5 g/t gold and 324 g/t silver in outcrop from the Nico Main zone (see press release dated October 11, 2007). Further exploration significantly extended the known mineralized trends and identified five discrete gold-silver prospect areas on a regional basis, defined by anomalous silver, gold or pathfinder elements and large chargeable / resistive geophysical anomalies. The principal targets of the Nico Main zone are the Tito vein zone and Carlos breccia zone, which host multi-gram gold values and multi-ounce silver values on surface (see press release dated May 26, 2008).
“We are very pleased to have Coeur as our partner for the Nico Project. We have an excellent relationship with Coeur, who are exploring and have recently drilled our Joaquin gold-silver property”, stated Mary Little, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mirasol Resources Ltd. “Coeur brings exceptional geological and local operational expertise to the Nico Project and we look forward to a productive venture.”

Gold Project Update, Tanzania by Lake Victoria Mining Company, Inc.- Kalemela
Top mining News: Here is the mining news from Tanzania. It is reported that Lake Victoria Mining Company Inc. provide an update of exploration activities at its Kalemela Gold Project in northern Tanzania. The further news is as follows:
Lake Victoria Mining Company Inc. provide an update of exploration activities at its Kalemela Gold Project in northern Tanzania. This emerging gold exploration project lies northeast of the Company’s Geita Gold Project and 140 kilometers northeast of the town of Mwanza. The Kalemela Gold Project is assumed to be the western extension of the Kilimafedha Gold Mines, colonial mining district.
At the Kalemela Gold Project, Lake Victoria Mining Company controls 262 square kilometers held within three exploration licenses; a detailed 2,226 line kilometer ground magnetic survey was recently completed within this property. The survey was contracted to Geo Can Resources and conducted with a continuous reading, GPS controlled GEM System magnetometer model number GSM-19W. Preliminary data processing indicates at least five new structural intersections are present below shallow clay and soil cover. These previously unknown intersections consist of prominent northwest trending structures that are crosscut by smaller northeast trending fault and fracture zones. These features lie within Precambrian greenstone rocks and are the primary focus of our exploration.
To further define these new targets identified by the magnetic survey, soil geochemical samples are being collected on 200 meter spaced north-south lines; individual targeted areas are spaced at 50 meters. A total of 1069 samples have been sent into the lab and assay results are pending. To date, anomalous gold results have identified a two by two kilometer structurally complex area in the eastern part of the project; samples are still being collected in the western locations over the recently identified structural intersections. Once the soil sample results are evaluated, shallow trenches may be excavated and an electrical induced polarization (I.P.) planned with the objective to define possible drill targets.
Dr. Roger Newell, President of Lake Victoria Mining Company, is currently in Tanzania overseeing the field exploration and data processing to define drill targets at the Kalemela gold project. This is happening concurrent with an aggressive 6000 meter Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling program on its Geita property, about 80 kilometers west of Mwanza. Lake Victoria’s Geita Gold Project is bordered by AngloGold Ashanti’s Geita gold mine which has ore reserves reckoned at 8.5Moz and mineral resources at 14.7Moz. The Geita mining district is one of the oldest and most productive in East Africa, and the Company is actively drilling strategically defined targets within the northeast quarter of its 43.77 square kilometer property. The results will be provided as they become available.

SLAM Exploration Ltd. announces it has received a draft 43-101 Technical Report and resource estimate from Wardrop Engineering Inc. for its wholly-owned Nash Creek Project in New Brunswick.
Using a 2% Zinc Equivalent cut-off and after mill recoveries are factored in, Wardrop estimates the Nash Creek deposit contains an indicated resource of 7,807,900 tonnes grading 2.72% zinc, 0.55% lead and 18.26 g/t silver plus an inferred resource of 1,211,700 tonnes grading 2.66% zinc, 0.52% lead and 18.00 g/t silver.
Drilling has been audited and validated by Wardrop in accordance with CIM Estimation of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves Best Practice Guidelines and within NI 43-101 guidelines by Bob Jankovic, P. Geo., an independent Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101.
Mineral resources were classified according to the CIM Definition Standards for Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves (December 2005) by Bob Jankovic, P.Geo. of Wardrop Engineering, an independent Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101.
Wardrop is not aware of any known environmental, permitting, legal, title, taxation, socio-economic, marketing or other relevant issues that could potentially affect this estimate of mineral resources. There is insufficient information at this early stage of study to assess the extent to which the mineral resources will be affected by these factors.
Zinc and lead recovery rates were based on the results from metallurgical tests reported 8 January 2008 (stated below). Mill recovery used for silver was 50%, based on historical data.
The near-surface deposit is amenable to open pit mining. The deposit remains open to the north where the continuation of a resistivity anomaly shows potential to extend the near-surface mineralization.
The property boasts excellent infrastructure with a power-line, railway and major highway transecting the property. These links provide immediate access to the Belledune seaport and lead smelter located within 25 km as well as Xstrata’s BMS No. 12 mine and mill within 75 km. Blue Note’s Caribou mine and mill, currently on care and maintenance status, is approximately 90 km by road from Nash Creek.
Preliminary metallurgical tests reported 8 January 2008 show projected mill recovery rates of 90.5% for zinc and 81.5% for lead. These tests produced a zinc concentrate grading 54.5% zinc, 0.9% lead, 5.7% iron and 115 grams per tonne silver as well as a lead concentrate grading 48.51% lead, 5.88% zinc, 16.83% iron and 160 grams per tonne silver.

High Grade Gold Samples From El Toro Project Reported by GoldQuest Mining Corp.
GoldQuest Mining Corp. report new sample results from its 100% owned El Toro project located in the central Dominican Republic. The El Toro project is excluded from the Gold Fields option agreement.
GoldQuest geologists have recently completed follow-up sampling on the 100% owned El Toro project located six kilometres northwest of the Las Animas project in the central Dominican Republic. El Toro comprises multiple mesothermal quartz veins defined over approximately 2.6 kilometres strike length with a northwest trend. The zone is approximately 1,000 meters wide and comprises several individual veins of up to 2.0 metres width, hosted in andesitic tuffs. Sampling of this zone returned 72 out of 182 rock grab and float samples (40%) with values greater than 1 g/t gold with a maximum value of 35.19 g/t gold. Fourteen samples returned gold values in excess of 10 g/t gold.
The property has now been geologically mapped and sampled in detail in preparation for trenching which will be started shortly. Exploration drill holes will subsequently be planned on the basis of trenching.
SANTA ANA & EL TUERTO PROJECTS
GoldQuest geologists have also initiated follow-up work on both the Santa Ana and El Tuerto properties. Both projects are also 100% owned by GoldQuest and excluded from the joint venture with Gold Fields.
Santa Ana is a zone of mesothermal quartz veins similar to that at El Toro located approximately six kilometres to the west. Reconnaissance sampling completed during the initial prospecting phase returned rock grab sample values up to 10.2 g/t Au.
El Tuerto is a significant area of anomalous stream sediment and rock grab and float sample geochemistry over several square kilometres area located approximately four kilometres west of Santa Ana and nine kilometres northwest of the Las Animas project. Preliminary sampling has given significant anomalies of copper, gold, silver and molybdenum in stream sediment and rock grab and float samples occur over a wide area centered on a large topographic high. Maximum values out of 53 rock grab and float samples are 6.7% Cu, 0.97 g/t Au, 32.8 g/t Ag and 0.08% Mo. Twenty-two rock grab and float samples (42%) returned values greater than 0.1% Cu including seven samples (13%) greater than 1.0% Cu. Mineralization is associated with quartz veins hosted by metabasic phyllites with quartz porphyry dikes and a diorite intrusion.
GoldQuest is a Vancouver based Exploration company focused on the Dominican Republic. Through regional grass-roots generative exploration and new geological models the Company has built a portfolio of new gold and copper discoveries including its 100% owned Las Animas Au-Ag-Cu-Zn project excluded from the Gold Fields joint venture.

Investor Day Held by GoldSpring, Inc. , on October 11th
GoldSpring, Inc. announced that it will host its first Investor Day at its Comstock property on October 11, 2008 from 10 am to 4 pm pacific time. The Day will consist of a comprehensive tour of its Comstock property, including the Hartford Complex, an overview of its mineral holdings and the property’s geologic setting and a discussion of the Company’s Preliminary Resource Report.
The new gold resource estimate, which includes 19 additional drill holes not included in the Company’s June 10, 2008 Preliminary Resource Report, is 510,000 ounces. This is an increase of approximately 30%, or 118,000 gold ounces, from the June report. Telesto Nevada, Inc., an independent engineering company, provided the estimate, and they are completing their formal report for GoldSpring. The Telesto report will be filed in an 8-K with the SEC upon receipt. The presentation will also include a demonstration of the computer modeling of the ore deposit at the Hartford Complex and a barbeque.
The Investor Day will also provide the opportunity to meet management and consultants for GoldSpring. Shareholders and potential investors are invited to attend at 1200 American Flat Road, Gold Hill, Nevada. The Company will be providing directions and general information about the Open House on its web page, http://www.goldspring.us/
“We are very excited about the recent global resource estimate, which showed a substantial increase in resources compared to the June 10th Preliminary Resource Report,” commented Jim Golden, GoldSpring’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are continuing our developmental drilling program at the Hartford Complex and are looking forward to receiving additional assay results. The upcoming Open House provides a great forum to showcase our land position and facility, elaborate on the vast opportunities discussed during our recent presentation in San Francisco, and to meet our investors. This is also a great chance for our investors to witness our progress first-hand.”
GoldSpring, Inc. is a North American precious metals mining company, focused in Nevada, with extensive, contiguous property in the Comstock Lode District. Our Company was formed in mid-2003, and we acquired two properties in the Comstock Lode before the end of the year. We secured permits, built an infrastructure and brought the exploration project into test mining production within a year of its acquisition. The Company, in 2005, began consolidating the Comstock Lode by acquiring additional properties in the district, expanding our footprint and creating opportunities for exploration and mining. We are an emerging company, looking to build on our success through the acquisition of other mineral properties in the Comstock Lode District with reserves or exploration potential. The Company’s objectives are to increase reserves through exploration, expand its footprint in the Comstock, resume mining, optimize its production, and maximize shareholder value.

Special Meeting of The Shareholders Held by Sherwood Copper Corporation
Sherwood Copper Corporation announced that it has set November 14, 2008 as the date for a special meeting of its shareholders to vote in respect of the business combination with Capstone Mining Corp., details of which were announced on September 8, 2008. Since the date of the announcement, Sherwood’s management has had discussions with the majority of its shareholders, who have indicated that they intend to support the transaction at the special meeting. Indications are expressions of intent and do not represent firm commitments and no lock up agreements have been entered into.
Transaction Rationale
Sherwood and Capstone also reiterated the benefits of the business combination by noting the following combined company attributes:
- Two high grade, low cost mining operations in pro mining jurisdictions - Sherwood’s Minto copper-gold mine and Capstone’s Cozamin copper-silver mine;
- Pro forma combined production of 37 million pounds of copper in concentrates at total cash costs of US$0.97 per pound in the first half of 2008 with higher production anticipated in the second half as both operations complete their ramp up to their expanded capacity;
- Pro forma cash flow from operations of US$75.7 million in the first half of 2008;
- Forecast production of 85 million pounds of copper in concentrates in 2008, increasing to 110 million pounds in 2009, with significant by-products of gold, silver, lead and zinc;
- Forecast total cash costs of under US$1.00 per pound of payable copper in 2008 and 2009, including all off-site costs and net of by-product credits;
- Continued focus on organic growth through exploration at existing mines, where resources have increased substantially over the past three years even before incorporating the results of major exploration programs carried out at both mines in 2008;
- Well funded pro forma combined entity, with exceptional cash flow generating capacity, that is well positioned to fund (a) continued growth at existing high grade Minto and Cozamin mines, (b) the advancement of the high grade Kutcho copper project towards a production decision, and (c) accretive merger and acquisition opportunities;
- Significant downside protection through the combined forward sales positions that extend into 2011 and beyond, yet with significant upside leverage to metal prices since more than half of the production will be delivered at spot prices during that period, before accounting for proposed production expansions (which would increase exposure to spot prices);
- A combined management team with complementary experience and a proven track record of building and profitably operating mines to create shareholder wealth, supported by a seasoned and experienced board of directors;
- Enhanced market exposure for Sherwood’s shareholders through access to Capstone’s TSX listing and increased weighting in the TSX composite index.
Sherwood and Capstone believe that their shareholders will benefit from the tax-effective combination of the two companies and the creation of a significantly enhanced business platform.
The special meeting of Sherwood’s shareholders will be held in the offices of Sherwood’s counsel, Dumoulin Black, on the 10th floor of 595 Howe Street, Vancouver BC at 10:00 AM on November 14, 2008. Additional information will be provided in the information circular to be mailed to Sherwood’s shareholders in October 2008.
Capstone is a Canadian based mining company currently operating the 100% owned Cozamin copper-silver-lead-zinc mine located in Zacatecas State, Mexico. The Cozamin Mine produced 6.7 million pounds of copper at a total cash cost of US$0.90 per pound in the three months ended June 30, 2008. Capstone has approximately 80.3 million shares outstanding and is well financed with no bank debt, and approximately US$100 million in working capital and marketable securities as of June 30, 2008, based on current share prices.
Additional information on Capstone Mining and its Cozamin Mine is available on Capstone’s website at http://www.capstonemining.com.
Sherwood Copper’s objective is the profitable production of base and precious metals from high grade, open pit mines in Canada. Sherwood’s first operating mine, the high grade Minto copper-gold mine in Yukon, Canada, was built on budget and ahead of schedule. The Minto Mine is one of the highest-grade open pit copper-gold mines in the world, and is a low cost producer. Aggressive exploration on the Minto property has yielded significant success, providing Sherwood the opportunity to ‘grow from within’ by expanding the resource and reserve base, potentially leading to further production increases. To further accelerate its production growth, Sherwood intends to pursue merger & acquisition opportunities that fit its business model and, in May 2008, Sherwood acquired 100% ownership in Western Keltic Mines (now Kutcho Copper Corp.), owner of the high-grade Kutcho copper-zinc-gold-silver deposit in northwestern British Columbia. Sherwood expects to lever off its successful development of the Minto Mine and rapidly advance the Kutcho project to a production decision. Sherwood has also agreed to combine with Capstone Mining, subject to requisite shareholder and regulatory approvals, creating a new low cost, growth oriented copper producer with two high grade mines and a strong balance sheet.

BNP Paribas Gets An Exclusive Mandate to Act as Lead Arranger of a $US 66 Million Debt Financing Facility
Infinito Gold Ltd. announce that it has signed an engagement letter under which it has given BNP Paribas an exclusive mandate to act as lead arranger of a $US 66 million debt financing facility to complete the construction and start-up of Infinito Gold’s 100% owned Crucitas Gold Mine Project located in north central Costa Rica. The financing is subject to BNP Paribas completing its due diligence process, which has commenced, and settlement of the terms of the facility.
Infinito Gold is a gold exploration and development company based in Calgary, Alberta, in the process of transitioning from junior explorer to gold producer. The development of the Crucitas Gold Mine Project is underway in Costa Rica with gold production scheduled to begin in late 2009. This signifies a major step forward for Infinito Gold and its shareholders.
“We are pleased to be working with the BNP Paribas team to bring the Crucitas Gold Mine Project into production,” said John Morgan, President and CEO of Infinito Gold. Steven Dean, the Chairman of Infinito Gold, said “The combination of the proven financial capability of BNP Paribas coupled with the quality project team currently at work in Costa Rica gives us great confidence that this project will be developed in an environmentally and socially responsible manner to the benefit of our shareholders, employees and local stakeholders.”
On July 17, 2008 the Company announced the results of a feasibility study on the Crucitas Gold Mine Project prepared by Micon International Limited. The project economics set forth in this study are considered by the Company to be robust due to a number of factors including a low strip ratio of 0.6 tonnes of waste per tonne of ore, high gold recoveries averaging over 92 percent and a relatively low initial capital cost of $US 66.2 million. The mine operating costs are estimated to be below US$ 350 per ounce, net of silver credits. The feasibility study may be found with the Company’s filings at www.sedar.com. The forgoing scientific and technical information has been prepared under the supervision of Ian Ward P. Eng., a qualified person under NI 43-101, who is independent of the Company.
Construction has been underway since June of this year and several buildings have been completed on site along with access road improvements, bridge installation and site preparation. Most of the large mill components have been delivered to the site and the project is on schedule and on budget for completion in late 2009.
The Company announced on August 29, 2008 that it had completed a non-brokered private placement for an aggregate of $CDN 18 million with Exploram Enterprises Ltd. and Auro Investments Ltd. which funds are anticipated to supply the required funding for mine construction until the financing with BNP Paribas can be completed.
BNPP is an AA+ rated world class financial institution with a full range of product and distribution capabilities, including a dedicated group specializing in providing project finance services to the energy, metals and mining industries. A market leader, BNP Paribas ranked #1 global Mandated Lead Arranger in project finance by Thomson Financial in 2007.
